Hello friends!

We’ve had an incredibly energizing couple of weeks here at Musical Wonders, traveling coast to coast, working with amazing teachers, and adding a brand-new songwriting formula to the curriculum.

Here’s what’s new:

🎶 1. A Simple and Powerful Folk Song Formula

New songwriting resource!

This post breaks down a classic two-line folk structure found in spirituals, protest songs, camp songs, and community music-making around the world. It’s easy to teach, perfect for group singing, and harmonizes beautifully with simple I–IV–V progressions.

🎵 2. Creative Music-Making in Portland

We spent the weekend Portland, OR with 28 wonderful teachers, diving into improvisation, arranging, and songwriting. Huge thanks to Yamaha for providing every participant with a Pianica, and to Andrew Thompson for hosting us in his fantastic classroom at Aloha High School.

🎼 3. Fun with Teachers in Danbury, Connecticut

We visited Western Connecticut State University for their Election Day PD and worked with over 80 teachers and students on creative music-making. The energy was incredible! Special thanks to Professor Matt Dorian for the invitation and for organizing such a meaningful day.

Thank you for following along and for being part of the Musical Wonders community.

More wonders coming soon!
