Happy summer, Musical Wonders Teachers!
For those of you who have used our songwriting materials in the past, you know that we advocate for performing lyrics over common chord progressions as a great way to get started. This can be done with live instruments, background tracks, through a DAW, or just about any other way you can imagine!
We’re big fans of making music with live instruments whenever possible. To make it even easier to use these progressions in your classroom, we’ve developed instrument handouts for all of our common songwriting progressions for Guitar, Bass, Keyboard, and Ukulele in the keys of C, D, and G. They also include diagrams for the pentatonic scale in each key for improvisation.
These handouts, along with background tracks for each chord progression, can be downloaded and used in your classroom. One of the easiest ways to get started is to practice the chord progression with a background track and then gradually remove the track as students become more confident.
Combine these progressions with one of our lyric-writing templates to be writing and performing original songs in no time!
