Hey Musical Wonders,
Weāre back with another Weekly Wonder, and this one is full of inspiration and classroom-ready goodness. Letās dive in!
āļøNew Lesson: Writing List Songs
This week, weāre thrilled to share our newest songwriting lesson: Writing List Songs!
List songs are a great way to get students writing quickly and creatively. From āWe Didnāt Start the Fireā to āThe Elementsā, these songs take simple listsāfoods, places, powers, even random objectsāand turn them into clever, rhythmic lyrics.
This lesson includes:
š„ A short video introducing the concept
š A free printable handout to help students organize their ideas
š§ A list of example songs to spark imagination
āØHandouts Get a Makeover!
Weāre excited to announce that this lesson is the first to use our newly redesigned handoutsāand we think youāre going to love the update.
The new look is:
More aesthetically pleasing, with a clean, student-friendly layout
Black and white, so theyāre easy to print and copy
Designed to be simple, intuitive, and classroom-ready
Weāve also updated the handout for our fan-favorite āSongwriter Swapā lesson, and weāll be rolling out updated versions of all Musical Wonders materials in the coming weeks. Keep an eye out!
š„This Weekās Featured Resource: The Drumeo YouTube Channel
Weāre big fans of Drumeo, and their YouTube channel is one of the best free drum set resources online.
This week, we recommend checking out āThe 20 Most Recognizable Drum Beatsāāa fantastic overview of iconic grooves that your students probably already know⦠even if they donāt know it yet!
š§ From āTake Fiveā to āWe Will Rock You,ā the video covers 20 legendary beats
š¬ Includes timestamps, context, and lots of performance inspiration
š Perfect for rhythm lessons, genre discussions, or just geeking out on great drummers
Thatās all for this week! We hope these new resources bring fresh energy to your classroom and give your students even more ways to create and connect through music.
š¶ Stay wonderful,
Musical Wonders Team
