Hey Musical Wonders,

We’re back with another Weekly Wonder, and this one is full of inspiration and classroom-ready goodness. Let’s dive in!

āœļøNew Lesson: Writing List Songs

This week, we’re thrilled to share our newest songwriting lesson: Writing List Songs!

List songs are a great way to get students writing quickly and creatively. From ā€œWe Didn’t Start the Fireā€ to ā€œThe Elementsā€, these songs take simple lists—foods, places, powers, even random objects—and turn them into clever, rhythmic lyrics.

This lesson includes:

šŸŽ„ A short video introducing the concept

šŸ“„ A free printable handout to help students organize their ideas

šŸŽ§ A list of example songs to spark imagination

✨Handouts Get a Makeover!

We’re excited to announce that this lesson is the first to use our newly redesigned handouts—and we think you’re going to love the update.

The new look is:

  • More aesthetically pleasing, with a clean, student-friendly layout

  • Black and white, so they’re easy to print and copy

  • Designed to be simple, intuitive, and classroom-ready

We’ve also updated the handout for our fan-favorite ā€œSongwriter Swapā€ lesson, and we’ll be rolling out updated versions of all Musical Wonders materials in the coming weeks. Keep an eye out!

🄁This Week’s Featured Resource: The Drumeo YouTube Channel

We’re big fans of Drumeo, and their YouTube channel is one of the best free drum set resources online.

This week, we recommend checking out ā€œThe 20 Most Recognizable Drum Beatsā€ā€”a fantastic overview of iconic grooves that your students probably already know… even if they don’t know it yet!

šŸŽ§ From ā€œTake Fiveā€ to ā€œWe Will Rock You,ā€ the video covers 20 legendary beats

šŸŽ¬ Includes timestamps, context, and lots of performance inspiration

šŸ“š Perfect for rhythm lessons, genre discussions, or just geeking out on great drummers

That’s all for this week! We hope these new resources bring fresh energy to your classroom and give your students even more ways to create and connect through music.

šŸŽ¶ Stay wonderful,

Musical Wonders Team
